DHA is found in oily fish such and herring, mackerel, sardines, salmon and tuna. Solgar DHA is derived from an organic algae, rather than fish, so you can be guaranteed of its purity. DHA is an important omega-3 fatty acid that is crucial for brain and eye development in babies. Studies show that maternal DHA intake directly affects levels in the foetus and new-born baby and as an 'essential' fatty acid, DHA needs to be obtained from the diet or supplements on a regular basis. 200-300mg of DHA per day is recommended in pregnancy and lactation.
