Manuka Ease Bee Venom Honey 500g

Bee Venom is the all important ingredient added naturally by our bees to the Manuka honey. You can enjoy Manuka Ease on toast, porridge, a warm drink or even off the spoon and help soothe any aches and pains with one of Mother Nature’s best kept secrets.

The use of bee products in natural medicine dates back to 2000 B.C. Some of these remarkable compounds include pollen, propolis, royal jelly, and honey. Another bee product that has long been known for its therapeutic activity is honey bee venom. In fact, scientific literature contains more than 1,500 articles on the substance.

Bee venom contains a complex mixture of at least 18 active substances. These include peptides, enzymes, active amines, sugars, lipids and amino acids. Melittin, a polypeptide, makes up 50% of the dry weight of bee venom. It is presently one of the most potent anti-inflammatory agents known. It works in the body by stimulating the release of cortisol, a natural steroid hormone, secreted by the adrenal cortex. Melittin also contains antioxidant properties and has been found to lower blood pressure.

A clinical trial with 20 arthritis patients commissioned by Nelson Honey in Auckland, New Zealand found that 66% of patients experienced a reduction in pain levels and an increase in mobility when treated with Bee Venom honey. A second trial, monitored by Dr Alan Doube, involved 97 arthritis sufferers. Results showed a statistically significant improvement in the level of pain and mobility in those with osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. In both trials, patients remained on their regular therapies, which included non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin and paracetamol.

One teaspoon contains less than one bee sting. Start with 1/4 teaspoon per day and increase to one to two teaspoons per day as required.

Reduce dosage if side effects develop. People with allergies should seek medical advice prior to use.

The New Zealand government is trying to stop the multi-billion pound fake Manuka Honey market by regulating the bee producers in New Zealand and encouraging them to sign up to a common system of measuring the all-important activity level. Elixirhealth.co.uk buys from Nelson Honey, one of the biggest authentic bee producers in New Zealand who provide a unique batch code on the side of all their jars which can be checked on their website where independent laboratory test results can be viewed. That way you have peace of mind and know that none of their bees are 'fed sugar' or the 'honey is treated' to artificially raise the strength of the honey.
